Getting Ready
Friday July 16th after 5:30 PM - Gary & Ted's Place.
CJ and Chris had just finished bringing in the decorations and the
subs for the party, when Zack pulls up in the van. "Okay, according to
the address we're here. Now everyone grab something, don't want to make
anymore trips than necessary." There was then a scramble to get
everything at once. "Hey, shitheads, WE CAN make more than one trip.
Don't drop anything or your ass is grass." Zack continued in his foreman
role. Will and Bart were there first to the door, and rang the bell.
Moments later, William opened it, "Can I help you?"
"Does Gary Snow live here?" Will asks.
William yells back into the apartment, "Gary! Someone here
to see
you." "I'm coming." Shortly Gary comes to the door, "Shit! Will you
made
it!", he wraps his arms around Will giving him a big hug. William
catches the bag Will was carrying, "I'll take that if you want."
"Thanks."
Then Will turns to Bart, "Gary, I would like you to
meet Bart."
"After all these month's of e-mail, it's great to finally meet you in
the flesh. I can see what Will sees in you." Bart starts blushing and
says, "Yeah, me too. ... I meant great to meet you too." As they're
talking , Zack, Shelley and Todd all walk up with bags of food,
presents, or clothing. Gary turns to them and says, "I'm Gary, Ted's
lover, and let me guess, You obviously must be Shelley." William says,
"Took a lot of brains to figure that one out." At which he grabs bags
that obviously look like food, and heads to the kitchen. Gary continues,
"I bet you're Zack. Then you must be Todd." He looks at Will and Bart
and gives them a quick wink.
"OK. Will and Bart you put your stuff in the bedroom just
past the
bathroom. Todd, " Gary turns to Todd, "you are staying aren't you?" Todd
answers, "Yeah if you got the room." "Don't worry we've got plenty of
room. Anyway stow you stuff in with Will and Bart's for the time being."
Shelley interrupts Gary, "We have a couple presents for for
Ted,
where do you want us to put those?" Gary says, "Just somewhere you can
find them later, we'll all give them to Ted at the same time." Shelley
looks to Zack and then back at Gary, "We hadn't planned on staying. We
..." "BULLSHIT! You're not leaving now! You don't bring food and
presents without being part of the party. You're here and you're staying
here. Will! Bart! Todd! get your asses in here." when they all get
there, Gary continues, "You will inform these two that they are not
going anywhere. They ARE staying for the party." "Zack, come on
stay."
"Shelley, you can't leave." "Shell, you heard the man, you're here."
Zack and Shelley look at each and shrug. Zack says, "Well all right if
you insist. But only if we can help too." Gary sees Jean pull up in her
car, "Well for starters, Zack, go help Jean with the cake." as he points
to the car that just parked. Zack and Shelley, both head out.
"Todd," Gary starts but Todd stops him "Could you
call me TK? All
of my friends here call me that." "Okay, TK. Well any ways could you go
to the kitchen and help Anita with the snacks until Deborah gets here.
Then we'll find you something else to do." When TK leaves, Gary turns to
Bart and Will and gives a low whistle, "That boy is hot. And he isn't
seeing any one right now, that's hard to believe." Bart answers, "Every
girl in school wants into his pants. But there aren't an over abundance
of gay guys there." Gary, "well we'll see what we'll see. You two finish
unpacking. Then lend a hand where ever you can. Get set for later. I was
thinking that all of you can wait in your room when the party starts,
then I'll send for you."
Sandra comes through the side door. "Sandra, before you get
comfortable, could you go out to the back porch and help Doug with the
soda. Got to keep everything covered with ice in this heat." "Gary, who
ever said you've got all the charm of a pit bull in heat knew what they
were talking about. ... Hi Gary!! How's everything going?" "Sorry
Sandra, but I've never thrown a real party before, and I suppose I sound
a little crazy." "Just a little?" "So all right, I sound real crazy,
but
you could still help Doug." Sandra shakes her head as she starts heading
out the kitchen door, "Sure, it'll be my pleasure."
Over the next hour and a half, the whole apartment with the
exception of the front room was decorated. The food was in place. The
beer flowing and the soda chilled. Gary now started organizing the
people. He put some in his bedroom, some in the kitchen, some on the
back porch, Some went upstairs to the apartment there to wait. The group
from Algo Hermoso had congregated in "Will and Bart's". they were
sitting around talking when there was a knock at the door. Gary popped
in followed in with this guy that looked wild. He stood about 6'2",
great build, blond hair with a hint of red, and blue eyes. Gary started
to say, "I'm back, thought I'd squeeze Bill in with you. Everyone this
is Bill, Bill this is Zack, Shelley, Will, Bart and " Before he could
continue, Bill said, "You're Todd King aren't you?" "Yeah, how did you
know/" "Well, I went to the state cross-country meet last year, a friend
of mine was running. And well, ... I noticed you ... there."
Todd then replied, "Glad to meet you finally. Do you know
that
we've been set up as blind dates? Our host and my friends decided we
should get to know each other better." Protests rose from Gary, Will and
Bart. Bill adds, "That must be why CJ was actin strange too. ...
Actually, it doesn't seem like to bad an idea." Todd looking at Bill
said, "I know what you mean."
Gary again told every one to keep it down Ted would be getting home
shortly. Just as the last of the guests were hidden away, Ted walks into
the room. Seeing Gary on the coach, he says, "Hey there sexy! Want to
play doctor?" Just then, Sandi walks in from the kitchen.
