Sunday Evening
Sunday July 18th @ 10:30 PM - Campsite.
Zack had just doused the campfire with a pail of water, and the
steam carrying ashes into the air was still visible. TK was just getting
into the tent, when Zack called out, "Good night you guys. See you in
the morning." Bill was already lying on his sleeping bag on his back,
with his fingers intertwined behind his head. TK sits down on his own
sleeping back, and kicks off his shoes. Then he stretches out on the
sleeping bag.
Bill, rolls onto his side so that he's facing TK, "TK, I just want
you to know that I really appreciated what you did for me last night, I
guess I was little embarrassed to say anything in front of Shelley, and
the rest. ... I woke up a couple times last night, and the first thing I
could feel was your arms around me, holding me. I could tell you were
awake, but didn't say anything cause I thought you might stop ... and I
didn't want that." "Don't worry about it. It was sorta nice for me too."
"TK, I know I have been kinda downer to be around lately." "Bill, that's
bullshit. Listen man, things have been rough on you lately. ... Anyway,
I've liked being around you."
TK, by this time, has also rolled on his side so he could face
Bill. They were less than an arms length away from each other. After
laying there like that for a while, "TK? I was wonderin, do you still
want to go out together?" TK says quietly, "Yeah I do." There's another
long pause, this time TK asks, "What about you? Do you want to go out
with me?" "Of course, I thought you woulda figured that out. ...", he
reaches out in the dark and touches TK's face and hair. "Do you remember
that other night at the party ... when we tried kissing each other? I
was just thinking that ... well I know I could use a little more
practice." TK grabs onto Bill's arm as Bill is caressing his face. When
he pulls on it, their sleeping bags slide closer together. "You know, I
don't think I got it all down myself." Bill shifts over to TK and
kisses him. TK breaks away for a second. "You know I really think I'm
gonna need lost of practice." Pulling Bill, into his arms, he then
continues from where they left off.
@ 10:30 PM - The King House.
It was still warm out as Virginia, still out on verandah, says to
her daughter-in-law, "Yes, they said they would take it. They'll start
coming after work till they get their bedroom fixed up and a room for
their computers. They'll use the old master bedroom as a living room for
now. I told them that until we got a stove set up for them they could
take their meals with us."
Betty asks, "Mom, I agree that we can always can
use the money,
and I don't care what the neigbors'll say, but weren't you going a
little fast on this?"
"I don't think so. ... You never had a chance to meet my
brother
Martin. Marty was always a little different. Well, now that I look back
on it, I see a bit of him in Steve. I don't know if he was gay or not,
but Marty was always being kidded about being a sissy. So when Korea
started up. He went and joined up. The day he left, and he gave me a
hug, saying he was gonna prove that he was just as good they were. 'Just
wait, sis, you'll see.' ... But I never saw him again." The thought of
that last moment was still vivid to her memory.
"Betty, I don't want you to say anything about this. But
when I saw
those two hoodlum's picking on Steve. I ... guess I went all maternal. I
wanted to give them a place they would be safe in. ... Steve and Mark
are really still little more than boys. They shouldn't have to face the
world alone." Betty, stands and giving her mother-in-law a squeeze to
her shoulder, "Mom, don't worry, we'll all treat them like family. ...
I've got to go bed now. Pleasant dreams." "You too, dear. I think I'll
finish this little bit of lemonade before calling it a night."
@ 10:30 PM - Gary & Ted's.
Hearing the muffled noises drifting from Bart and Will's room,
Ted
starts chuckling, "God, they're going full throttle in there. I wonder
if we were ever that bad." "Oh I'd say we were probably even worse. ...
It was that weekend we went to St. Louie, just over a week after our
first kiss."
....................................
Gary had gone up to the front desk of the Hyatt - Union Station
and registered. Ted waited in the background, it was if he figured that
anybody just looking at him would know what he was up to. The clerk gave
Gary the two two electronic keys, That will be room 317, Mr. Snow, I
hope you enjoy your stay. Will you be needing help with your luggage?"
"No thank you." Gary then motioned Ted to the elevator. "We're in room
317."
It was once they were in the room with the door closed behind
them
that the full impact finally hit them.
....................................
Gary said, "I was so scared. I only vaguely knew what we were
supposed to do." Ted adds, "Shit, I was convinced that once we got going
that I'd screw up so bad, that you 'd think I was not someone you'd want
to hook up with."
....................................
To avoid doing anything else, they took their leisurely time
unpacking the few clothes they brought with them. Ted says to Gary,
"Which bed do you want?" Gary looks at him, "Well, I thought, ... I
sorta figured that we'd only need one."
....................................
"I remember that hurt look on your face when I asked which
bed you
wanted. I felt like such a total idiot." "You must of realized it
because you started nodding your head, with that huge shit eating grin
on your face."
Just then a shout is heard coming through the walls, Ted rolls
over
on top of Gary, "You know that's making me horny." "You were born
horny." "That's not the point, I was thinking that maybe we could start
making some noises of our own." With that, he brings his lips down hard
on Gary's. ...
