Driver's License

Friday August 20th @ 9:30 AM - Matthews House

Will is knocking at the front screen door of the house. He hears
Bart yelling down the stairs that he will be there right away. Will
yells back that he'll be on the porch. Will sits there gazing at the car
when Bart finally comes through the door. Bart looks at Will and from
the expression on his face can tell something's up. "Okay, Will out
with. I can tell you've got news." "It's nothin really, I was just
wonderin if you want to go into the Gap to check on that tent for Steve
and Mark's party." "Sure, I got nothin to do. ... Where's Ted?" Will
looks around innocently, "Ted? What do you want Ted for?" Bart realizes
that Will is playing some sort of game here, "Alright, I'll play along,
I see the car, and I don't see Ted, is he out back or something?" Will
responds. "Or something. ... Just get in the car, and we can go."

Bart heads to the car and opens the back seat door. Will who is
walking behind him says, "You can ride shotgun today." Bart looks at
Will strangely, leaves the door open for Will and gets in the passenger
side of the front seat. Will closes the door to the back seat, and then
gets in the driver's seat. Bart looks at him and asks, "What's going on?
I thought we were going into town? And where the fuck is Ted?" Will,
while taking his keys and inserting them into the ignition, "Oh, didn't
I say, Ted's at home. So you ready?"

Bart looks at Will, and knows, "WILL!!! YOU ASSHOLE! How'dja get
it? I never knew you were going ..." "So, guy, wanna go for a ride?"
"Sure where?" Will says, "How about we head to TK's place? I'm pretty
sure he hasn't left yet for Topeka." "Sounds cool, let's go.", Bart
answers. Will buckles his seat belt, "Hey Bart your seat belt." "Oh I
forgot." Bart locks his seat belt. Will pulls away. Bart smiling, "Shit
man, this is great!!!"

On the way to the King house, Will asks, "Bart, when you going to
let me see that story you wrote?" "I'll e-mail it to you later." "Listen
that's what you told me last week. ... Come on, it can't be that bad?"
"It is, trust me." Will is undaunted, "Shit at least tell me what's it
about?" Resigned, Bart looks at the road, "Will, have you been following
the Brian and Percy stories?" "Yeah, been bout  a week since the last
part." "Well, Did ya get a chance to read Another Urban Fairytale?"
"Well I've started it." "Anyways, There were a bunch of characters that
this Jean, made up, including two I sorta liked." "That's the one with
Michael & Joey right? Is that who.?" Bart said " Yeah and no. That two I
liked were Keith and Dexter. The story sort of left them hangin just
before they were goin' out on a date. So I thought I might use them two
for the story." Bart explained to Will, how he had started and what he
had written, and finally agreed to put it on a floppy so Will could take
it home with him.

By this time, they started to pull up to the King house. Will saw
TK on the porch talking to his grandmother and he started honking the
horn. Todd saw Will driving, and yelled, "All right you got it!!! ...
Hey, Grams, you better watch it now Will's on the road!" He runs down to
the car. When he looks in the window, Will says to him, "You got time
for that ride now?" Will turns to Bart, "TK saw me practicing the other
day, and I told him I'd give him a ride if he didn't tell anybody." TK
gets in the back seat, "This is great! We're not leaving til 1, so I got
time for a ride. Let's go!"

Grams now gets to the window, "William Sommers, so you have your
license?" "Yes, ma'am. Did you want to go for a ride with us?" Grams
chuckles, "Somehow, I don't think you really want me along. But I'm
happy for you, Will. Now just you be careful, don't forget you've got my
grandson in there." Will answers in a more serious tone, "Don't worry
Mrs. King. I'll be careful. Ted, Gary & Sandi have been pounding that in
my head since I started practicing." Grams asks, "Sandi?" Remembering
the series of lectures that Sandi gave him before she left, and the
constant stream of e-mails about car accidents, and the seat belts in
particular, "Yeah, the person she was involved with died in a car
accident and she said if she woulda had her seat belt on she'd be alive
today." "You listen to her. TK! just cause your in the back seat doesn't
mean you don't have to put yours on." TK fumbles with the the belt,
clicks it in to place, "See, Grams. All set." Grams stands back from the
car, "Okay. Now just remember to be careful. Off you go." Will under the
watchful eye of Grams, carefully pulls out of the driveway and heads
down the road.

TK smiles as they start for Cheyenne Gap. "So, Bart have you and
Will broken in the back seat yet?"  Bart giggles, "Hehehe, not SINCE he
got his license, but last Marc ..." Will stops him, "Bart you know you
don't have to fill everybody in on our sex life." "He was just asking."
TK was enjoying himself, "Yeah Will, How's a young boy to learn about
such things? Unless those more experienced pass down what they know?"
Will says, "Fuck you, you're older than either of us. And to set the
record straight, if you'll excuse the term, NO we have not broke in the
back seat, ... at least not YET. We could be remedying that now except
we're hauling your sorry ass around."

Laughing, TK adds, "Well, just pull over and hop on back here,
we'll make it a threesome." Bart looks at him, "Keerist, you ARE one
horny motherfucker. ... Bill better watch his ass when you get there."
TK comes back, "He doesn't have to, that's my job." "Shit I saw that
coming as soon as I said it! ... So what's the latest from Bill?" "Oh
not much, I guess his best friend knows about him being gay and stuff,
and is pretty cool with it. The dude is interested in Gina, according to
Bill. We e-mail each other a lot, and started using ICQ once in while."
"Did I tell you about the sleeping arrangements?" "No." "No, what about
'em?" TK blushing says, "Bill's Aunt Jean, has decided to set up a roll
away bed in Bill's room for me to sleep on." Bart comes back, "This is
the same woman who gave Bill a bag of rubbers, right? TK! you got
yourself a license to fuck!" "Bullshit! The house is going to be full of
people, they'd hear us. Just what I'd need is Shelly walkin in cuz she
heard someone moaning." Will interrupts, "So is it you or Bill that does
all the moaning? Bart, did you notice it's always them quiet guys that
go crazy?" "You fuckers!"

They had ended up going to an A&W for root beers in Cheyenne Gap
before heading back. As Will's coming up the drive way, he turns to
Bart, "Bart, you can have that boyzone CD back." "So did you like it?"
"Yeah, I really did. I didn't think I would but I really did. In fact, I
went and got 2 copies of it." "Two?" TK laughs, "Yeah one for me and the
other as a present for Bill." Bart asks, "Bill? I didn't think he was
into that kind of music." TK getting out of the car, "We'll see. Anyway
thanks for the ride. Maybe, next time we're all in town, I mean when
Bill's in town, we could all go out on a double date?"  Will  responds,
"That'd be cool. Well, have a good  weekend. Give our love to Bill."
Bart quickly adds, "As if you weren't going to anyways." "Bye!"
