Sunday Night at The Creek

Sunday Aug 8th @ 8:30 PM  - The Matthews' Creek

Zack and Bart's cook-out was a success. Everyone brought some dish
to share, there was food and drink, and games and sitting around
talking. Your typical picnic. Zack and Bart's parents went to the
hospital in Cheyenne, one last time, because Jenny wanted to see her
mom.  Betty and Virg had left about 7, telling TK and Bill not to out
stay too late. Everyone else was down at the creek, sitting or laying
around a small bonfire that Zack was managing. The night was warm and
pleasant

Sitting in clusters, Sandi was telling Ted, Gary, CJ and Jim about
the re-modeling of the store. Ted and Gary, who were sitting there
supposedly listening, were lost in their own thoughts. Another group,
Zack, Shelly, Bart, Will, Steve and Mark were just shooting the shit,
talking about whatever came to mind. TK and Bill were sitting on the old
log. TK to Bill, "It can't hurt to ask." TK walks over to where Bart is
sitting and leans over and whispers, "Bart, can I talk to you in ...
private?" Bart looks up and nods.

The two of them walk a little ways off in the night shadows. Bart
starts, "So what's up?" TK says, "I want ya to keep this between us,
OK?" "OK already, What gives?" TK, thankful that the night is hiding his
blushing, "Well, you see. ... Bill and I were wonderin ... if you could
help us out. ... We want to know if ... we could use the ... screen
house for awhile, ... and if you'll cover for us. We don't want anybody
to know where we are." Bart starts quietly chuckling, but he stops
because he knows for TK this is no laughing matter. Bart, looks at TK,
and he sees the bashful, loner who has finally found someone. A surge of
warmth, hits him. He understands that TK is family.

Bart whispers to TK, "Todd, go ahead. I'll make sure no one bothers
you, man." "Thanks, you don't know how much I, we, appreciate this."
Bart walks back to the fire and starts talking about the volleyball
games that afternoon, "I say your team had all the luck!" Soon, the
whole group is arguing about the games. Bart leans over to Will, he
whispers, "Just follow my lead. ... " then he pokes Will in the ribs,
and tickles him. "Cut that out asshole." "Make me big boy, and I use
word big loosely." Bart puts  a headlock on Will and they start
wrestling. THey roll around while the others playfully urge them on. At
one point, Will is panting with Bart on the ground beneath. They're face
to face, when Will stops fighting and brings his face down to kiss Bart.
"Boo! Boo!" "Cheating!" "What kinda fight is that?" they hear from all
around them.

Bart gets back to his feet, and trying not to be obvious looks
around and smiles, when he sees that Bill and TK are gone.
